The Sigma Workbook 'AS 1.7 Create a Visual Text' is written for NCEA Level 1 students. 

 

This write-on student workbook covering the English skills students need to gain Achieved, Merit, or Excellence in this NCEA Level 1 Achievement Standard. The work covers only Achievement Standard 1.7 'Create a Visual Text' (AS90855)

This workbook contains a large number of write-on student tasks designed to help students practise the skills necessary to develop a deeper understanding in this area of the New Zealand English curriculum. Students will also find detailed instruction boxes, glossaries and other resources that will develop the ideas, vocabulary, techniques and processes needed to gain a high level pass in the internal assessment for this Standard. 

This workbook provides students with instruction in a range of visual mediums including: a comic strip, the graphic novel, advertising, newspaper front pages, posters, storyboards, video programmes, a podcast and a dramatic presentation. Candidates can study the full range of these visual mediums in the workbook and then select the one best suited to their ideas and creativity. A set of introductory tasks is also included which will help students refine their ideas before selecting an appropriate visual text to explore. An abbreviated version of Achievement Standard 1.7 is included in the resource.
